Not having a franchise dealership to perform mundane tasks like administering test-drives to the public, Tesla Motors must assume the responsibility of doing such things themselves. So, test-drives are predictably limited in availability.
But now (April 24th) through May 28th, a number of events across the country, and parts of Canada, will enable curious members of the public to test-drive the Tesla Model S, accompanied by a product specialist.
Edmunds reports that securing an appointment to take a Tesla Model S out for a spin is essential; these reservations must be approved by a Tesla Motors representative in California prior to the event. Speaking of Tesla Motors’ lack of franchised dealerships, the events will be hosted at a variety of alternative locations – mostly hotels and Supercharger stations. Test-drivers must stick to a pre-mapped route, taking about 15 minutes to travel start-to-finish, and may load up to 3 passengers into the Tesla Model S’ rear seat for the duration.
If you’re curious where and when you can get to a Tesla Model S test-drive event, a full list of dates and locations can be found on the Tesla Motors website.
