Tesla CEO Elon Musk Alludes To A New Non-Car Product Line

We’d imagine that Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk is a very busy man these days; besides tending to the impending Model X release and forthcoming Gigafactory, he’s also got his SolarCity and SpaceX ventures to keep him running around all week.

Elon Musk’s schedule might be set to get a lot busier soon, as the Tesla CEO tweeted this past Monday about a new product line reveal scheduled for April 30th at 8 pm, when the electric carmaker will apparently show something that’s not a car at their Hawthorne Design Studio.

This news comes by way of Autoblog, who suspect that the new “thing” to be revealed is a line of high-capacity batteries capable of powering a home. We agree that this is most likely the case, as Tesla Motors has been diligently developing such a thing for some years, and it very recently made headlines. Other speculation seems far-fetched, to say the least, including excited proclamations that Tesla Motors could possibly reveal a mobile phone, motorcycle, electric snowmobile, or even a hoverboard.

As we see it, besides a range of home-powering batteries, the only other plausible reveal from CEO Elon Musk might be a pilot Hyperloop test-track. But seeing as that wouldn’t very well fit into a design studio, we’re sticking with the home backup batteries.
