Ford Sollers Updates Vsevolozhsk, Russia Plant To Build New Ford Fusion

On April 9th, 2015, Ford Sollers — Ford Motor Company’s joint venture in Russia — began manufacturing the new Ford Mondeo at its Vsevolozhsk plant near St. Petersburg, Russia. In order to produce the Mondeo, which is sold as the Fusion in North America, the joint venture needed to make several upgrades to the facility.

According to Ford, the plant upgrades aim to modernize the facility, and include:

  • Substantial new production equipment
  • Increased automation
  • Production process enhancements such as improved production ergonomics
  • Equipping the body shop with a robotized main conductor capability
  • A laser cabin and pneumatic equipment for the workstations

Ford Sollers has big plans for the Vsevolozhsk facility, with plans to produce the Focus there later on in 2015.
