The 2015 Audi Q5 recently underwent the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety’s (IIHS) Small Overlap Front Crash test and received the highest possible rating of “good”, causing the IIHS to name the Q5 the Top Safety Pick+. The title only applies to those units of the Q5 manufactured after January 2015 and equipped with the available Driver Assistance package.
Audi’s best-selling model, the Q5 features fully-galvanized steel unibody construction with an aluminum hood and tailgate. Both contribute to its “good” ratings in all of the Institute’s crashworthiness tests.
The available Driver Assistance package, meanwhile, earns the Q5 an Advanced rating for front crash prevention. The package is available on Q5 models equipped with the 3.0L TFSI and 3.0L TDI engines and includes the following features:
- Audi braking guard
- Adaptive cruise control with stop & go functionality
- Audi dynamic steering
- Drive select controls
