2015 Volkswagen Polo Recalled In Australia Over Potential Engine Malfunction

Volkswagen Group of Australia is recalling the 2015 model year Volkswagen Polo over a potential problem with the engine that can may pose an accident hazard to the driver or other road users.

Affected vehicles: 2015 model year Volkswagen Polo.

Number of affected vehicles: 2,708.

The defect: on affected vehicles, the pulley on the camshaft adjuster can break. If the camshaft adjuster fails, then the belt drive of the engine may also be damaged.

The hazard: the defect can lead to oil loss and, in the worst case scenario, the engine will no longer be timed correctly and valves may contact the pistons. This may pose an accident hazard to the driver or other road users.

The fix: Volkswagen has yet to communicate a fix for the condition. However, we expect that VW will communicate the proper repair procedure to be conducted by dealers in a letter to owners.

Owners should: expect a letter from Volkswagen notifying them of the required action. In the meantime, owners may contact Volkswagen using the information below.
