Joey Logano Takes XFinity Series Victory At Talladega

Joey Logano finished near the bottom of the pack in Sunday’s Geico 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, but he was able to put Ford and Team Penske in victory lane on Saturday after winning the caution-filled Winn Dixie 300 XFinity Series race.

Logano led a race-high 40 of 113-laps on his way to the 24th Xfinity series victory of his career and third so far this season. He managed to avoid various wrecks throughout the race’s duration, including a Lap 74 mishap which collected 10 cars along with a multi-car Lap 97 wreck.

“There were lots of close calls at the front of the race,” Logano said post-race. “There’s no real safe place and it’s always intense here.”

“It’s always crazy,” he added. “You just want to get through it and get yourself in position.”

Logano held off the remaining cars in the field and crossed the finish line just 0.130 seconds ahead of Brian Scott in his barely running No. 2 Chevrolet Camaro. Series points leader Austin Dillon slotted in behind them in third, with JJ Yeley giving Toyota a top five finish in fourth.
