Watch Three High-Powered Executives In Drag: Video

Have you ever wanted to see three, high-powered executive sedans built without the slightest inclination toward stop light glory-seeking duke it out on the drag strip?

You’re welcome.

Actually, don’t thank us; thank Drag Times, in association with whatever Cyrillic alphabet-wielding country these races took place in (presumably Russia). The three high-powered executives in-contention for the title of “Most Surprisingly Expedient Quarter-Mile” are: the Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG, an Audi S8 with PP-Performance Stage 1 kit, and the Maybach 57S. They make a reported 515, 600, and 630 horsepower, respectively: well over the standard 1,500 HP recommended for a good time.

Alas, if this video reminds us of anything, it’s that horsepower isn’t everything when you have so much luxury equipment to lug around. That’s especially true of the most portly of the three cars – the Maybach 57S – which weighs in at over 6,000 lbs.

So, perhaps watching these three high-powered executive sedans lay rubber down on the drag strip isn’t as exhilarating as that may sound; they don’t so much “blast” through the quarter-mile as they jog, cough, and struggle their way through. But what can we say? Watching a few of the most auspicious, self-important sedans be forced into a comparative speed competition against their will rather makes us giggle.
