Tanner Foust Growls Like A Volkswagen Golf R: Video

Next on your YouTube playlist: watch rally racing pro Tanner Foust commit to the penultimate expression of “being the car” by laying down his best impression of a Volkswagen Golf R over video of some high-speed driving.

It seems that Volkswagen got a little bit goofy with this latest marketing shtick of theirs; we rather like it. Tanner Foust was simply the first of many unabashed people to participate in this Golf R promotion, where anyone can go and record 10 seconds of their very best car imitation, while Volkswagen takes that audio track and produces a cut Golf R video to match.

You can “make your own Golf R film, powered by your voice,” in other words. Pretty nifty, eh?

Of course, most of us are at a disadvantage; professional drivers like Tanner Foust spend hours in the cockpit, giving them a distinct advantage when trying to replicate the exact sounds of, say, a Golf R being hurled around at the limits. But just head on over to rrr.vw.com, do your best, and remember that after all, Mr. Tanner Foust comes out of this looking rather silly, too.
