Dr. Jack Kevorkian’s Old VW Bus On Sale, Just In Time For Halloween

One doesn’t need to be from the Detroit area to know the name Dr. Jack Kevorkian; he was a trained medical doctor who made national news in the 1990s when he assisted in some 130 suicides. While Jack Kevorkian continues to be a controversial figure long after his death in 2011, those without fear of being met with derision and unease have the chance to own a small part of the Doctor’s legacy: his old VW bus.

Autoblog reports that Dr. Jack Kevorkian’s VW bus was set to be destroyed in 1997, before his conviction on counts of murder in the second-degree in 1999, but somehow survived. A Detroit-area pawnbroker came to possess the vehicle several years ago, and hopes that its sale will bring in as much as $40,000.

The VW is currently in a sorry state, but reportedly comes with a title and registration to verify Dr. Jack Kevorkian’s previous ownership. Autoblog further reports that the van was listed on auction site eBay back in 2010, but was removed for violating the site’s rules against selling “murderabilia.”
