How The UK Market Likes Its 2015 Ford Mustangs

Plenty among us could have predicted that the quintessential American pony car – the Ford Mustang – would be a hit when it finally arrived in the United Kingdom for the 2015 model year. The country had a good five decades to accumulate pent-up lust and desire, after all.

Much more difficult to predict is just how our cousins from across the pond would tend to option the pony car, but since orders for the 2015 Ford Mustang have been open in the UK for several months now, we have that information.

Ford UK has revealed that of those fun-loving Brits who’ve ordered an example of the 2015 Ford Mustang, somewhere around 80 percent of them have taken the fastback coupe over the convertible. Blame it on those dreary, foggy skies. An astonishing 70 percent have opted for the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 of the GT-badged model, meanwhile, although we suppose that’s a bit unsurprising.

After all, if you’re getting an all-American muscle car, you might as well go all-out with regard to its “muscle.”

Finally, the most popular paint color for the 2015 Ford Mustang in the UK has turned out to be “Race Red,” with a 23 percent uptake rate, and the 6-speed manual transmission is actually more often ordered than the automatic, consuming about 55 percent of all UK orders.

All that information isn’t exactly based on a small sample size, either; nearly 2,000 orders for the 2015 Ford Mustang have been placed in the UK since January, with deliveries not due to begin until this November. That ought to keep Ford’s Flat Rock Assembly Plant busy for some time to come.
