Learn AWD Drifting At The Ken Block School For Hoonigans: Video

Drifting – or, the practice of inducing a purposefully high slip angle, esp. at the rear of a vehicle – is as much an art form as it is a science.

In fact, perhaps even more so. To hear the American master of drift himself – Mr. Ken Block – talk about it, all the theory and applied standard practice in the world are no match for simple trial, error, and experience. Try as he might to explain to Autocar‘s Matt Prior the science of all-wheel drive drifting in the video above, Ken Block ultimately arrives at the simple conclusion that by this point in his motoring career, it’s all second nature.

Even still, there’s plenty to learn from the aforementioned video, such as what good drifting looks like, and how much talent you’re likely never to possess in your lifetime. Ken Block is simply an artist, and with a firm grasp on the controls of his beastly, 845 HP “Hoonicorn” AWD Mustang, he can create a masterpiece on whatever piece of tarmac he should choose as his canvas.
