Support Our Vets, Buy A ‘Presidential’ 2016 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang

The 2016 Ford Shelby GT350: it’s about as American as you can get.

Or is it? Because the example to be auctioned-off at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance later in August rather ups the ante by bearing the signature of former US President George W. Bush on the dashboard.

Autoblog reports that proceeds from the sale of this “presidential” 2016 Shelby GT350 will go on to benefit post-9/11 combat veterans through the George W. Bush Institute, contributing to a program which helps these veterans transition back into civilian life. Former late night talk show host and vocal petrolhead Jay Leno will be performing the actual task of auctioning the car: a fitting choice, since Mr. Leno also happens to be quite passionate about the men and women of the US Armed Forces.

An official press release records Mr. Leno’s comments ahead of the 2016 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang auction; the celebrity remarked that “[the Shelby GT350 has] one of the most exotic engines ever produced by a major American manufacturer plus the fact that it’s going into the most American of cars. I am proud to help auction this car off where the proceeds will go to helping our veterans.”

The car is expected to fetch somewhere between $75k and $100k.
