Want To Change Your Ford Mustang’s Exhaust Volume? There’s An App For That

A new innovation from Roush Performance brings an unprecedented level of cool to the 2015 Ford Mustang, allowing you to impress friends and rivals alike with the tap of a finger:

An app for the Apple iPhone or iPad allows the driver of any 2015 Ford Mustang equipped with Roush’s Quad-Tip Active Exhaust to control the pony car’s muffler from said connected device.

The Detroit News reports that the Roush Active Exhaust system and corresponding app come with three basic modes to get the driver started: Touring, Sport, and Track. The former is a tame, liveable mode for everyday driving, while Sport allows the 2015 Ford Mustang’s muffler to be bypassed somewhat only at lower speeds. Track mode bypasses the muffler altogether, giving the user (and surrounding neighborhood) the full aural experience. A fourth Custom mode allows the user to set his or her own preferred muffler behavior, so that the bypass is used when and how the driver wants it, relative to vehicle speed.

Pricing for the 2015 Ford Mustang Quad-Tip Active Exhaust system from Roush Performance stands at $2,689.99.

The Detroit News spoke to Roush Performance VP of Marketing Don Manfredi, who is especially proud of the more flexible of these four modes. “Custom mode is great because it lets the individual do what they want to do with the exhaust note,” he said. “You can truly say that this is your tune.”
