2016 Ford Shelby GT350 Signed By George W. Bush Helps Raise $885K For Charity

In August we reported Gooding & Company would auction off a 2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang signed and driven by former president George W. Bush, with all proceeds from the sale benefitting the George W. Bush Institute’s Military Service Initiative. Now, the presidential ‘Stang has sold, netting an incredible $885,000 for the charity.

The GT350 was auctioned off during Gooding & Company’s August 15th auction at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Former Tonight Show host Jay Leno drove it onto the auction block before the bids started flying ,eventually cresting $700,000. Peter W. Chiarelli, a retired U.S. general, also joined Leno on stage and performed pushups for donations, netting another $185,000.

“We appreciate the opportunity to work with Jay Leno as a part of his efforts to increase awareness and raise funds for the Bush Institute’s Military Service Initiative,” Henry Ford III, Ford Performance global marketing manager. “We’re indebted to the courageous men and women who have fought to preserve our freedoms. Providing this Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang – which President Bush drove and signed – is a small token of our gratitude for their sacrifices.”
