2017 Chrysler Town & Country To Feature ‘Open ‘n Go’ Foot Operated Doors

Information regarding the 2017 Chrysler Town & Country has come to light well ahead of the minivan’s rumored debut early next year. According to Automotive News, the next-generation Town & Country will boast foot operated ‘Open ‘n Go’ rear-sliding doors in addition to other new technologies.

The foot operated sliding doors and rear liftgate allow for the doors to be opened hands-free when the key fob is present or near by. This way, if your hands are full (as minivan owners’ hands so often are), the door can be opened by running your foot past a sensor located underneath the vehicle, which is much easier than setting down whatever it is you’re carrying.

The ‘Open ‘N Go’ doors will be just one of many technologies to be featured on the next-gen Town & Country. AN says the minivan will also come equipped with Fiat-Chrysler’s 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system, an optional built-in vacuum and USB ports in all three rows of seating.

AN also says the 2017 Town & Country will be offered with an upgraded version of FCA’s 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which will be linked up to a nine-speed automatic transmission. An all-wheel drive model variant will be available and will employ an electrically powered rear axle for added traction and stability.
