RWD Mustang V8 Ford Focus Is The Focus RS Of Our Dreams: Video

It’s hard not to like the Ford Focus RS. For just a tick over $35,000, you get all-wheel drive, a 350 horsepower 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine and a torque vectoring differential. It’s about the closest you can get to buying a road-going rally car from the Ford showroom, but we can think of one way Ford could have made it better.

This video, posted by MTK Tuning to Facebook, gave us a wonderful idea for a high-performance Focus. The owner has taken the 5.0-liter V8 engine from a Mustang and put it where your groceries would normally be and converted the little blue hatchback to rear-wheel drive. The result is a wonderfully hoonable super hatch that just begs to be drifted.

So what if Ford offered a package like this from the factory? We can see it being unfathomably dangerous, but sending a few Focus hatchbacks over to Shelby and asking them to put the 5.2-liter VooDoo V8 in the back can’t be that hard, right? Such a car will probably remain a fantasy of ours, but you can check out the next best thing in the video below.
