Watch Porsche’s Press Conference From The 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show Right Here: Video

Like so many other Volkswagen Group brands, Porsche had lots to get excited about in the way of new product at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. They rolled out the updated 911 Carrera, which ushers in a new-generation of turbocharged 911 Carreras, and also shocked show-goers with the unexpected Mission E concept.

The new 911 Carrera and Carrera S carry Porsche’s new twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre flat-six engine, which sits in place of the automaker’s old 3.4-liter naturally aspirated flat-six in the Carrera and the 3.8-liter unit in the Carrera S. For some the announcement was unwelcome, as they see a true 911 Carrera being powered by a naturally-aspirated flat-six, however constant improvement has always will be the Porsche way.

Further enforcing that mantra of constant development was the Mission E concept, an all-electric four door the media has billed as an answer to the Tesla Model S. It seems like sacrilege, but the 600 horsepower Mission E is deserving of the sacred Porsche badge it wears, boasting a sub 8-minute Nurburgring time and a 0-62 mph time of 3.5 seconds.

We could sit here and talk about Porsche’s latest offerings all day, but Porsche chairman Matthias Muller knows them better than anyone outside of the automaker, so it’s best to let him take it away by watching the video above.
