The 2016 Fiat 500X may place emphasis on stylish design, but don’t think it’s form without function. The little Italian runabout has received the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s highest possible Top Safety Pick+ rating after scoring well in every single one of the organization’s tests.
In testing a new vehicle’s safety, the IIHS simulates a side impact with a large vehicle, both a moderate- and small-offset front crash, a rollover and roof crush and a hard rear collision. In every test the Fiat 500X received the best possible score of ‘Good’ and was also given recognition for its Forward Collision Warning-Plus system.
“With the all-new 500X, we help make it possible not only for customers to arrive safely at their destinations, but to do so with style,” passenger car brand boss at Fiat-Chrysler, Timothy Kuniskis, said in a statement.
