Designing The Bugatti Vision GT: Video

The Vision Gran Turismo project, for those unacquainted, is essentially an open invitation to the world’s performance car manufacturers to imagine, draft, and design a new, virtual supercar to be raced in the Gran Turismo 6 video game.

Already, automakers from Mitsubishi to Volkswagen have answered the call, and created some of the most wild, exciting vehicles ever conceived for the Playstation racing game franchise. One of the most highly anticipated submissions, of course, came from Bugatti.

The Bugatti Vision GT concept was unveiled early last month, premiering what the marque says is its future design direction. But unlike Vision Gran Turismo submissions from other automakers (ahem SRT), the Bugatti Vision GT was designed to be plausible in today’s world. As a matter of fact, if you’re curious what the forthcoming Bugatti Chiron hypercar might look like – as we all are – then the Bugatti Vision GT might be our most reliable indication yet.

And yet, while the concept constitutes the first step forth from the late Veyron hypercar, the Bugatti Vision GT’s ancestry is still uncanny. Features like a horseshoe-shaped grille, trademark sickle-shaped character line, and center line accentuation tie the concept to the past, even while it steps decisively into the future.

To hear about the car from some of the Bugatti Vision GT design team, plus the President of game developer Polyphony Digital, watch the full video above.
