Ford Developed The New GT To Win The 24 Hours Of Le Mans: Video

The Ford GT may be intended for the road, however above all, it was built to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans. From the way it’s designed to the engine it uses, all of it was implemented with the goal of helping the storied GT nameplate win the race that helped it establish the cult like following it enjoys today.

Over the summer Ford put the finishing touches on the GT prepping it for mandatory tests ahead of the IMSA and FIA WEC seasons. They had camera crews on hand to document the tests, and recently uploaded a video featuring some of this footage to YouTube briefly going over the development process for the GT.

The video, which we’ve embedded above, is a must-see for anyone who’s been following the GT’s story since it first debuted at the North American International Auto Show in January. Next January will be another milestone month for the supercar, with it set to make its competition debut at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona on January 30th.
