Mercedes-AMG Teases ‘Something Fast’ Soon To Break Cover: Video

A furious exhaust note, and POV footage of a track whipping past at breakneck speed; that’s all that Mercedes-AMG has given us to decode what might be coming next from the world class tuning arm of Mercedes-Benz.

The video below, entitled (aptly enough) “Something Fast Is Coming,” teases a brand new product from the automaker which is presumably soon to break cover. Speculation in the Comments section on YouTube as to what the mystery Mercedes-AMG could be is very intriguing, with some version of the C63 AMG coupe, or an AMG GT Black Series receiving the most mentions.

Want to hear what we think? Personally, we feel there’s a great chance that the Mercedes-AMG car not shown is none other than a street-legal version of the brand’s GT3 race car. Call it enthusiast’s intuition, but the exhaust note in the video sounds like a large-displacement, normally-aspirated mill. And while both the Mercedes-AMG GT and 2016 C63 AMG coupe followed the new trend and went biturbo, the GT3 race car unveiled earlier this year at Geneva sticks with a normally-aspirated 6.3-liter V8, like its predecessor.

That, coupled with the absolutely insane speeds shown in this video, suggests to us that the video’s most likely subject is the rumored Mercedes-AMG GT3 road car.

But what do you think? Are we thinking wishfully, or does our logic seem tight?
