Smart ForTwo Surprises A Mustang At The Drag Strip: Video

The Smart ForTwo is good for a few things. It’ll save you money on gas, its cheap to own and use, it’s easy to park, it’s perfect the city car and (to some) it’s stylish too. One thing it isn’t good for however is drag racing, as evidenced by the video below.

According to the video description, this Smart is hiding the 1.5-liter engine from a Toyota Paseo in its behind. The four banger is supercharged too, making for one of the most unique and potentially terrifying sleepers on the planet.

When the Smart lines up to race a Ford Mustang GT, the weight of the engine in the back mixed with the sudden acceleration pops it up on its rear tires. Despite the semi-impressive launch, the Smart can’t quite regain its composure and loses to the ‘Stang, turning in a 13.90 quart mile time to the Ford’s 13.67.

We have a feeling that with addition of a wheelie bar, this not-so Smart ForTwo could be in the late 12’s.
