Ford Sollers To Build Updated Focus At Vsevolozhsk Plant In Russia

Ford Sollers, Ford Motor Company’s joint venture in Russia, will build the updated Ford Focus at its Vsevolozhsk plant later on in 2015. Focus models produced at the facility will be destined for sale in the Russian and surrounding CIS markets.

Ford originally opened the Vsevolozhsk plant in 2002, making it the first foreign-owned vehicle manufacturing plant in Russia in the modern era. When the Ford Sollers joint venture was established in 2011, the new organization took over the plant. Production capacity of the plant, which builds the Focus and Mondeo, is more than 160,000 vehicles per year. The plant employs around 1,500 people.

Most recently, Ford Sollers started production of the new Mondeo at the Vsevolozhsk plant in April 2015. The plant underwent various modernization initiatives to produce the new midsize sedan, which itself is slightly altered for the rigors of the Russian market.
