2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R, Focus RS Rendered Before 2015 Detroit Auto Show

Next week, Motrolix will be bringing you live coverage of the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Among the rumored Ford debuts are a Mustang Shelby GT350R and the rally-inspired Focus RSAnd there are renderings of both, courtesy of TopSpeed.

Our initial thought on the Shelby GT350R was that it was going to be a spiritual successor to the 1965 Shelby GT350R. Instead, it could be the spiritual successor to the Laguna Seca version of the Boss 302 from a few years ago “offering improved aerodynamics, chassis tweaks and possibly more ponies under the hood.”

Of course, the Focus RS is really big news for Americans since Ford‘s hottest hatch has been absent from the American market, until now. The RS is expected to share the same 2.3L EcoBoost turbo-four that’s already used in the 2015 Mustang EcoBoost, but tweaked to make 350 horsepower. It should have a more aggressive aero kit, and essentially take the extremely well-liked Focus ST to the next level. We do, however, wonder if the Focus RS will have AWD.

Other Ford products that could be unveiled in Detroit are a revived Ford GT with a 600-horsepower EcoBoost V6 and the F-150 SVT Raptor truck, now based on Ford’s all-new, aluminum 2015 F-150.

News from America’s biggest automotive show will begin trickling out this weekend, so stay tuned to Motrolix for the latest.
