Pricing For The New Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Leaked!

If you’re no stranger to this site, then certainly you’re no stranger to the awesome, forthcoming 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350. We’ve reported extensively on the future Shelby-badged hot Mustang variant, including sharing a leaked options list with pricing.

Up until this time, however, we’ve been sorrowfully left in the dark regarding how much the car will cost, let alone getting a firsthand opinion of how it drives. Thanks to Car and Driver, we can cross one of those items off of our list; the automotive news outlet reports that the Shelby GT350 will start at a mere $49,995, including the gas-guzzler tax.

The further-stripped-down, even more ballistic Mustang Shelby GT350R will cost an additional $13,500, for a total base sticker price of $63,495. Here’s a quick refresher of what that $13.5k is buying you:

  • A weight reduction of 130 pounds resulting from removal of the A/C, audio system, rear seats, trunk floorboard and carpet, and exhaust resonators.
  • Carbon fiber wheels, each of which reduces unsprung mass by 13 pounds.

And that’s mostly it. Bear in mind, though, that at the Mustang Shelby GT350’s otherworldly level of performance, that weight reduction might just prove gargantuan.

C/D further reports that this more hopped-up version of the 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 may even have beaten the Camaro Z/28’s impressive Nürburgring lap time, which is no small feat, even for a high-revving 5.2-liter flat-plane crank V8 like that of the Shelby.

Of course, now that we have an idea of what this mental new Shelby GT350 will cost, all that’s left to find out is how it struts on the track… Ford, call us?
