Porsche set a yearly sales record by delivering 162,145 vehicles to customers around the world in 2013. Those numbers represent a 15 percent increase over 2012 sales levels of 141,075.
“Thanks to our strong product campaign and the extension of our business model, we have been able to further enhance the appeal of our brand on a global scale, as demonstrated by the 162,145 deliveries we made in 2013,” said Bernhard Maier, Member of the Executive Board Sales and Marketing at Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG. “We are looking ahead to the coming months with optimism and are anticipating new growth with the Porsche Macan and 911 Targa models.”
Of those 162,145 deliveries, the most popular model was the Cayenne SUV with over 84,000 units sold. The 911 accounted for about 30,000 units, while the Boxster/Cayman moved about 25,500 units. In particular, the Boxter/Cayman saw the highest growth compared to 2012, with a year-over-year increase in sales of 117.4 percent.
Regionally, the U.S. remained Porsche’s largest market, with 42,323 new vehicles delivered to customers — up 20.8 percent compared to 2012. Meanwhile, China was a close second, with 37,425 vehicles sold — up 20 percent over 2012. European deliveries grew 4.4 percent to 51,049 vehicles, with 20,638 of those vehicles being delivered in Germany.
