Electric 1968 Mustang Embarasses A 2011 Mustang GT500 In The Qaurter Mile: Video

If you had $200,000 to sink into a 1958 Mustang to prep it for drag racing, what would you do? Supercharge it? Put a modern-day 5.0-liter Coyote motor in it? Whatever your preferred route would be, it is probably be very different from what the guys behind the Zombie 222 Mustang decided to spend their money on.

The Zombie 222 is powered by two Warp 11 electric motors and a lithium-polymer battery. As is the case with most electric cars, the Zombie 222’s power is available almost immediately and remains relentless through the quarter mile. It will accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3 seconds and do the quarter mile in an impressive 10.8 seconds. That’s enough performance to take care of the majority of modern-day cars, including a 2011 Shelby Mustang GT500.

The 2011 produces GT500 550 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque and will do the quarter-mile in a claimed 12.35 seconds at 115 mph, according to Motor Trend. You don’t have to be an expert to figure out the Zombie 222 will mop up the floor with the GT500. Who says electric cars aren’t fun?
