Prediction: 2015 Ford F-150 Will Win 2015 Truck Of The Year Award

That’s right, we said it: the 2015 Ford F-150 will win the 2015 North American Truck Of The Year (TOTY) award. Probably.

Our thinking is three-fold on this, and revolves around the fact that The Blue Oval’s new pickup truck brings many innovations and class firsts to the table, such as:

  • An aluminum body to decrease weight
  • A 2.7-liter EcoBoost (turbo-charged) V6 engine
  • A well-rounded combination of exterior styling combined with interior technologies and amenities

Sure, the 2015 F-150 won’t feature a turbo-diesel (yet)… but with all the extremely positive press the truck is generating even before its launch later this year, we can’t see how it won’t win the TOTY. Especially when you consider the fact that the competition already announced its all-new (2014 Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra and Toyota Tundra) or revised (RAM) offerings for the previous year, and won’t do so again for several years — which means that they won’t even be in for the drawing for the coveted award.

We’ll have to wait until January 2015 and the North American International Auto Show in Detroit to see if our prognosis is correct. In the meantime, let us know if you agree in the comment section below.
