Alex, the F150 SSV is in the brochure for Police along with the SSV Expedition.
Got to http://www.fordpoliceinterceptor.com and download the brochure, look at page 30 of 36.
The reasoning for the 2.0L EcoBoost in the non pursuit rated Interceptor was because many agency’s are now required to balance their fleets by using more fuel efficient vehicles for administrative or investigative positions.
My agency is off setting fuel consumption by putting admin into Hybrid Fusions, and Detectives into gas power Fusions.
But there is still a market for a Taurus size fuel efficient vehicle in Law Enforcement. Shopping Mall Security, Campus Security, etc etc. These places dont pursue anyone. Or some Police agencies want all their admin vehicles to match Patrol so they take the 2.0L Interceptor Sedan.
It will be interesting to see the take rate of this 2.0L because I believe the Fusion is the best fit for these positions.
What is long overdue is a re-design on the retail and SSV Expedition, Ford is losing this segment to GM with agencies buying Tahoe/Suburban.January 2, 2014 at 1:24 pm #5450Alex LuftKeymaster
Reality Checker, I was looking at the Ford Fleet page and then the police section here:
I wonder why there’s a discrepancy between the two.January 4, 2014 at 3:39 pm #5503LOUDRParticipant

There are a lot of small towns, small College and University Police Departments who don’t actually chase anyone they just want a real Police car to drive around on the campus. Burning fuel in this EcoBoost 4 cylinder just makes more sense for fuel savings. I agree I didnt think demand would be there either but Ford had a surprising amount of requests for it. I was of the opinion that just switching from a CVPI to a newer Interceptor with 3.5L V6 would be sufficient for the hippies wanting better fuel economy and lower Green House Gas emissions.
