While we still patiently wait for the promising Ford Focus ST, some parts of the world are enjoying the range-topping 300 horsepower Focus RS. And though we probably will not get a chance to see the FWD-only hot-hot-hatch in American dealerships, we just may see the next generation model.
According to Drive.au, the Next Focus RS is expected to hit the market between 2013-2014, and will sport an outrageously power-dense 2.0-liter EcoBoost four cylinder engine.
Aside from our wishes for this machine to actually make its way to America this time around, we have one more request. And that’s all-wheel-drive, because judging by the rumored 350-380 horsepower prospects, the car’s going to need it. Sure, RevoKnuckle is cool and all, but come on — a front-wheel-drive only Focus is no rally road car. We don’t see it bringing in Mitsubishi EVO and Subaru WRX/STi enthusiasts into the showroom if it’s indeed pulled by the front wheels.
