Ford has previously announced that it plans to offer its direct-injected and turbocharged EcoBoost engines as standard equipment or as an option in 90 percent of its North American nameplates by 2013. By the end of 2011, EcoBoost will be optional on five of Ford’s North American offerings, including the Taurus, Flex, Edge, Explorer, and F-150. Additionally, the 1-liter three-cylinder engine currently in development will expand the EcoBoost family and will most likely be offered in subcompact and compact models such as the Fiesta and Focus, respectively.
