Ford Begins Shipping MyFord Touch, MyLincoln Touch Upgrade Packages To 300,000 Customers

This week, Ford began mailing packages containing the previously-announced MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch upgrade packages to U.S. customers — all 300,000 of them. Inside, owners of MyFord Touch (MFT) and MyLincoln Touch (MLT)-equipped vehicles will find a USB flash drive containing the software update, a notification letter, detailed instructions outlining the installation process, and an updated user guide. Additionally, owners of vehicles equipped with a navigation system will receive an SD card containing updated maps.

The update, which was prompted by negative feedback from users and automotive publications apropos MFT/MLT, should take approximately 60-minutes to install for the customer, can also be installed at a Ford or Lincoln dealer. Improvements to MFT/MLT include simplified graphics, bolder text, a faster touch screen response time, and improved voice recognition. The update also contains new features such as support for tablet computers and Audible audiobooks as well as improved navigation maps and designation entry.

The upgraded software will already be pre-installed on all 2013 Ford and Lincoln models that offer MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch, starting with the 2013 Taurus and Flex.
