Ford To Increase Production Of F-150 SVT Raptor

If you don’t know the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, you’re missing out. If you have to ask why, then our answer would be something along the lines of ‘because awesome ultimate high-performance off-road pickup truck’. That’s why. And as should be the case with all products as awesome as the Raptor, the off-road beast continues to find new fans and sales success — causing The Blue Oval to boost production of the vehicle for even more awesome.

Having first launched in 2009 as a 2010 model, the Raptor has seen record sales during 8 of the past 10 months, with sales up 14 percent in 2013. If that isn’t good enough, Raptor is also one of the fastest-turning vehicles in the automotive industry, turning at a 15-day supply on dealer lots, according to Ford.

Day supply is a prevalent industry-wide metric of retail customer sales demand. The lower the figure, the less time a vehicle remains on a dealer lot before it’s sold, with average being a 60-day supply.

“What’s helping drive Raptor sales is that Raptor delivers unmatched off-road performance to our customers,” said Doug Scott, Ford truck group marketing manager. “Raptor is also proof of our commitment to offer a truck for every customer and continuously improving them to meet our customers’ evolving needs.”

The high demand for the Raptor is causing Ford to boost the truck’s production, increasing assembly from three to five trucks per hour — meaning greater availability for those who have been eying one of these beasts. And with the coveted improvements made to the 2014 Raptor, the increased production can only be a good thing for consumers.
