It’s common knowledge that the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is one phenomenal pickup truck. Unless you have something against the Ford brand (ok, we’ll come out and say it: unless you’re a hater) or just don’t like pickups in general, then you probably love the truck — and everything that it stands for. But the fine ladies and gents at Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) wanted to take the off-road champion and its 6.2 liter V8 even further. The results are the VelociRaptor 600 and 800 — both of which deliver even more astounding performance.
The 600 and 800 numbers stand for the amount of power in the tuned Raptor. In the case of the VelociRaptor 600, that number is 600 horsepower and 622 lb-ft of torque thanks to a supercharger.Meanwhile, the VelociRaptor 800 makes a mind-boggling 810 horses and 745 lb-ft of torque thanks to twin turbochargers. Both packages turn the Raptor’s already-mean-sounding exhaust into a pure monstrosity of an aural experience.
So to demonstrate the potency of the VelociRaptor 600, HPE pitted the tuned truck against a stock SVT Raptor on a drag strip. As you’d expect, the VelociRaptor, which is easily distinguishable by the various mods to the exterior, effortlessly pulls away from the stock model in the straight line, even with the added weight of a front winch. And that exhaust note is oh-so-bewitching.
