SEMA 2013: Universal Technical Institute Shows A Vintage Gulf Racing Focus ST

Aiming to create a track star for the street while being inspired by the rich history of Gulf Racing from the 1960s and 1970s, the Universal Technical Institute created this vintage look for the very modern 2014 Ford Focus ST.

Collaborating with Neil Tjin of Tjin Edition to design the exterior, the tuned ST’s body features Axalta paint and custom flares by DTM Autobody, while emulating the recognizable blue and orange livery of Gulf Racing. Performance modifications include Baer brakes, a KW suspension kit, a Vortech Superchargers intercooler and a high-flow catalytic converter from Motiv Concepts that exits through custom dual-side exhausts. The upgrades result in more power, although how much, exactly, isn’t disclosed.

The entire kit sits on 19-inch Forgestar deep-concave wheels wearing Falken tires.
