On January 29th, 2014, Ford Motor Company commenced producing the EcoSport subcompact crossover at its Ford Thailand Manufacturing plant in Rayong. The highly-flexible state-of-the-art plant becomes the fourth facility to build the all-new EcoSport globally, joining plants in Chennai, India; Chonqing, China, and Camcari, Brazi.
The beginning of production reinforces “the strategic role of Thailand as a volume production and export hub in the region”, according to Ford. Thai-built EcoSport models will be for domestic sale and export to markets across the ASEAN region, as Ford sets up to eventually sell the vehicle in 100 markets worldwide.
“The all-new EcoSport continues our ongoing product-led transformation by providing customers with another segment-leading vehicle to our growing Ford showroom across our ASEAN markets,” said Matt Bradley, president, Ford ASEAN.
