Porsche Introduces Cayenne Platinum Edition

Porsche has announced the Cayenne Platinum Edition — a limited edition run of the Cayenne that’s based on the Cayenne and Cayenne Diesel models offering many of the most popular options on the sport-luxury crossover as standard equipment.

Outside, the Platinum Edition makes itself known with exterior detail accents finished in Platinum Silver Metallic, including the center and side air intake grilles, the side window trim, the rear lip spoiler, and the lower tailgate trim. Meanwhile, the cabin is adorned in an exclusive two-tone Black Luxor Beige.

Available just below, the list of standard equipment is lengthy, and includes various packages such as Convenience and Bose Audio:

  • Eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission
  • Power Steering Plus
  • Park Assist (front and rear)
  • Convenience Package:
    • Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system with a high-resolution seven-inch touchscreen navigation system
    • BiXenon headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS)
    • Driver Memory Package seats
    • Moonroof
    • Heated front seats
    • Auto Dimming Mirrors
  • Bose Audio Package:
    • Bose Surround Sound System with 14 loudspeakers and a total output power of 585 watts
    • Sirius XM radio
    • 6-disc changer

Standard colors on the Platinum Edition are the monotone Black and White; for an extra charge, Meteor Grey Metallic, Basalt Black Metallic, and Mahogany Metallic are available. In addition, the Platinum Edition is exclusively offered in Carrara White Metallic finish. No matter the color selected, the midsize sport crossover will sit on 19-inch Cayenne Design II wheels with a colored crest.

Just like the Carrara White Metallic hue, the cabin’s Black Luxor Beige two-tone combination is reserved for the special edition model as well. A partial leather interior is standard, while a full leather interior is available as an option. The cabin also features Porsche’s SportDesign steering wheel with paddle shifters, embossed headrests and floor mats with Luxor Beige edging, as well as front door entry guards with the “Platinum Edition” script.

Carrying a base price of $63,000, the Cayenne Platinum Edition is powered by the 3.6-liter V6 engine making 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, allowing the sport-luxury CUV to sprint from zero to 60 MPH in 7.4 seconds. Meanwhile, the $66,900 Cayenne Diesel Platinum Edition is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel engine making 240 hp and 406 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to accelerate from zero to 60 MPH in a brisk 7.2 seconds. To note, the aforementioned prices do not include Porsche’s $995 destination charge.

The two new Platinum Edition models are on sale globally right now (January 2014).
