Ford is taking in-car technology and connectivity to a new level by adding in-car Wi-Fi connectivity in the 2014 Figo. The addition makes the Figo the first car in its class to sport the connectivity, which will operate using a Wi-Fi dongle and essentially turns the Figo into a rolling hotspot, allowing its occupants to share a data connection inside within the vehicle.
The Wi-Fi connectivity will be offered via a special value pack that includes the Wi-Fi dongle plus color-coordinated seat covers and LED interior lighting. The package will cost an additional 9,790 Ruppes, or roughly $150 USD, based on current conversion rates.
To note, the which Figo is essentially the original Ford Fiesta, but with several updates inside and out and a different name. It’s offered in India alongside its sedan variant — the Ford Classic — as an entry-level vehicle below the (global) Fiesta.
Stay tuned as we learn more about the specifics, including cellular carrier and dongle installation, about the way in which Ford incorporated Wi-Fi into the Figo.
