In an attempt to sell potential consumers on Ford’s impressive EcoBoost engine line-up, the Blue Oval is traveling to multiple cities across the United States promoting the EcoBoost Challenge. This allows prospective buyers an exclusive test drive of Ford’s newest models featuring multiple fuel-saving and power-preserving technologies such as direct injection, turbochargers, and variable valve timing.
Starting in Phoenix, Arizona on April 12th, and traversing throughout the U.S. until Ford reaches its final destination point in Indianapolis, the Dearborn, MI-based company will attempt to win over drivers who may be driving other marques. The vehicles debuting within the EcoBoost Challenge Fleet will be the Mustang, F-150, and an EcoBoost-propelled Expedition plus one rather special treat.
Showcasing as the headlining vehicles are Ford’s sporty duo of hot hatches; the Focus ST and Fiesta ST. Interestingly, Ford is allowing any average Joe off the street to compete in a timed lapping session against professional racing drivers on any number of exciting closed-course circuits.
In a recent push, Ford has stated that by the end of the 2014 calendar year nearly 90 percent of its entire model line-up will be available with their heralded EcoBoost powertrain.
