Tesla Leases Warehouse, But For What?

Just when the world thinks Tesla can’t make any more headlines, CEO Elon Musk displays his entrepreneurial talents once more, as Tesla will be adding a little more space to its real estate—431,000 square-feet of space, to be exact.

But what could Tesla be doing with all this extra space? As a central parts distribution location or an actual vehicle-producing factory, this leased warehouse (currently being renovated) seems to make sense, but taking into account the current market share of Tesla, those potential uses might outpace the company’s future needs.

In a recent statement to Autoblog.comthe electric car company stated, “Tesla is continuing to invest and create jobs in California as part of our ongoing infrastructure expansion. In the last two months, we have signed leases for more than 625,000 square-feet of Californian real estate, independent of sales and service centers. These recent investments reinforce our commitment to California and will help us continue to bring compelling electric vehicles to market at affordable prices.”

So whether this warehouse is being utilized as another distribution center, or perhaps slated to produce vehicles in the future, you can be sure to get all the Tesla news and updates here at Motrolix.
