Ford Fiesta ST Driver Survives Close Call At The ‘Ring: Video

Motorsport is a dangerous game. While safety has improved greatly over the years, every time a driver steps in the cockpit of his/her racing machine, there is always a lingering voice reminding him/her of the harsh reality that being involved in an accident is an unavoidable part of racing. And if there is any track capable of throwing a driver to the wrong side of control and chaos, it is the Nürburgring Nordschleife. As you may know, the racetrack infamously dubbed Green Hell is worthy of respect, and this blessed driver demonstrates exactly why.

After coming in too hot off a treacherous downhill curve, a Ford Fiesta ST gets caught on the outer edge of the circuit curbing, leaving it in an uncontrolled trip off the track. When the Fiesta returns to the tarmac, the rear begins to let loose, leaving the racer to his own devices as he heads directly at an unforgiving barrier.

In a split-second reaction, the driver pulls his hot hatch back into line just in time to save himself (and other fellow racers) from a potentially devastating accident.

But don’t take our word for it—take a look below for all the action.
