Bentley Eyeing Coachbuilding Bespoke Cars

In a blossoming global luxury car market, Bentley is looking at new ways to maximize profits. A new SUV is just around the corner, and a bespoke coachbuilding division within the company could soon follow.

“The total [luxury car] market won’t grow much over the next few years,” Bentley member of the board for sales and marketing, Kevin Rose, told AutoExpress. “We’ve started to look at [coachbuilding] more seriously in the next year or so, but we’re not at the stage to say yes or no yet.”

The British luxury car maker wouldn’t be the first manufacturer to create a coachbuilding division. As AutoExpress points out, both Ferrari and McLaren make special one-off models for customers who ask (and pay).
