Ford Confirms Power Specs Of 2015 F-150 With 2.7-Liter EcoBoost V6

Ford has disclosed official specifications regarding the smallest engine in the upcoming 2015 F-150, the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6.

The 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine will slot in between the range-topping 5.0-liter V8 and the mid-range 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. It will produce a robust 325 horsepower and 375 lb-ft of torque, resulting in a towing capacity of 8,500 pounds and a max payload of 2,250 pounds. It will also feature standard Auto Start Stop for further fuel efficiency gains.

When combined with the 700 pounds of weight which have been pulled out of the new F-150, the 2.7-liter engine should make for a perfect balance of performance fuel efficiency. Ford says the power-to-weight ratio of the 2015 truck with the 2.7-liter engine has been improved by 15 percent over the 2014 5.0-liter V8-equipped F-150, mostly thanks to weight savings.
