Smaller RAM Prototype Pickup Spied

A heavily disguised mid-size Ram pickup prototype was recently spotted by KGP Photography not far from Fiat-Chrysler’s headquarters in Auburn Hills, MI. According to pickuptrucks.com, the new truck will serve as Ram’s entry-level model and is based on the foreign-market, front-wheel drive Fiat Strada pickup.

Despite the aesthetically troubled camouflage, it’s pretty easy to tell that this is a pickup. The wheel arches leave plenty of room for suspension travel, and the rear section looks very much like other pickup trucks. This prototype reportedly had a diesel power unit under its hood, too.

Despite being based on the Strada, the platform of this mystery mid-sizer is sitting on is allegedly extended in comparison to the Strada’s and will offer more cabin room and more room in the bed, making it more appropriate for the North American market. Little is known about the new truck, but we have a feeling this isn’t the last mid-size Ram prototype we’ll be seeing around Michigan.
