Ford Sponsors Neighbourhood Awards For Eighth Consecutive Year

For the eight consecutive year, Ford will serve as the headline sponsor of the 2014 Neighborhood Awards in Atlanta, which honors local citizens and organizations for their contributions within their neighborhoods. The awards will be hosted by best-selling author, comedian and humorous Family Feud host Steve Harvey.

Part of Ford’s involvement in the Neighborhood Awards entails presenting the winner of the the Community Leader of the Year Award with a check for $30,000, which will donated to a charity or non-profit organization of their choice.

“The Ford Neighborhood Awards continues to represent a mainstay within the African American community,” said Shawn Thompson, manager of Ford multicultural marketing. “Each year this show gets bigger, and Ford is excited to be able to present the Community Leader of the Year Award recipient with a check for $30,000 to ultimately give back to the local community.”

The Neighbourhood Awards are described as being like “the Oscars with an urban flair” Ford says, featuring a diverse group of celebrities who will “present 12 nontraditional awards to stars of the community.” Some of the award categories include best church, beauty salon, community leader, barber shop, fried chicken place, high school teacher, high school, nail salon, car wash and detail shop, BBQ place and church choir.

Attendees will also be able to drive some of Ford’s latest products, such as the 2014 Fusion mid-size sedan and the 2015 EcoBoost-powered Expedition, as part of the consumer ride-and-drive portion of the event. They will also have the opportunity to learn more about the automaker through Ford’s interactive booth display.

“For eight years, Ford has remained committed to this event and what it represents,” said Thompson. “We look forward to recognizing everyone who is being honored this weekend, in addition to sharing some of or newest products and technologies with attendees.”
