2015 Ford Transit Sees First Major Fleet Order From Charter Communications

Ford has announced Charter Communications will take delivery of 800 low-roof, 2015 Transit vans. This is good news for the new van in the increasingly competitive van segment. The order by Charter Communications, fourth-largest cable operator in the United States is the first large fleet order for the 2015 Ford Transit.

Ford says Charter is going with the standard 3.7L, V6 gasoline engine. These 2015 Ford Transit vans will be used for transporting cable and phone equipment throughout Charter’s 29-state service areas.

Charter says it choose the 2015 Ford Transit due to its fuel economy and cargo space.

“Charter is excited to be adding the 2015 Ford Transit Van to our fleet,” said Kathy Carrington, SVP of Corporate Services at Charter. “The handling, safety features, cargo space and fuel efficiency were all contributing factors to our choice and our technicians will be well equipped to serve our customers with these trucks.”

At a March ride-and-drive event, Charter’s team drove the 2015 Ford Transit and found the handling, tight-turning radius and panoramic windshield also helped make the van an ideal candidate.
