M2K Motorsports Ford GT Hits 273 MPH At The Texas Mile: Video

Too many Ford GTs have been mothballed, only to be paraded in front of drooling plebeians at rich-guy auctions across the US of A.  We’ve found one modified by M2K Motorsports that’s different − in Gulf Racing colors, no less. In the below video, it can be seen hitting 273 miles per hour in the Texas Mile, a top-end banzai run much like the better-known Mojave Mile.

Sounding more like a muscle car than an exotic, the GT hits 218.5 mph in the half mile, finally reaching 273 another half-mile later. Seems impressive, no? So did High Tech Corvette, who decided to reprise the run from a first-person’s view. The Doppler effect makes it almost dizzying to watch, but it ain’t as bad (good?) as the view from behind, which culminates with a parachute release. Keep your barf bag handy!

The conclusion of the video shows the motor, although no information is given on what modifications were made (M2K’s website has a few states of modifications for the GT). Considering the Ford GT topped out at a electronically limited 205 mph, M2k Motorsports already had a good starting point.
