Next-Generation Porsche Panamera Spied On The Road

The next generation Porsche Panamera has been spied on a test drive – in cognito, of course. It’s well-camouflaged to hide its design details, but what can be ascertained through the padding is an obviously sleeker, sportier overall shape than the current car. The next-gen car appears to have a cleaner, more fluid appearance than the current model, although we’ll have to wait to see the new car’s surfacing.

The next generation Porsche Panamera isn’t due until 2016 for the 2017 model year, but it’s joining a number of other Volkswagen products in being revised to make use of Volkswagen’s MSB platform – a new chassis architecture from the brand for use in all rear-wheel drive and many all-wheel drive cars with longitudinal power plants. The marque is also at work developing a new V8 that will be common to models built on the MSB platform.

While it is only speculation at this point, there is also the prospect that this next generation Porsche Panamera will lend itself to a sexy sports wagon like the Panamera “Sport Turismo concept” from the 2012 Paris Motor Show.

Very exciting indeed. For a full gallery, visit Motor Trend.
