2015 Ford Mustang RTRs Catch A Drift At SEMA: Video

When I was a kid, drifting didn’t exist. Instead, certain men and women in blue uniforms called it juvenile delinquency. But we as a race have evolved, and now delinquency is considered an automotive sport − who knew? One of the world’s most famous delinquents . . . er, drifters is Vaughn Gittin Jr. Not only does he have a nifty name, but he also has his own company that promotes his vision of what a Ford Mustang could be. The 2015 Mustang RTR is the current version of that vision.

According to RTR’s website, Vaughn’s dream was “to introduce something new to the Mustang world that appeals not only to younger generations, but also to any traditional muscle car enthusiasts and overall automotive enthusiasts as a whole.” Hence, the Mustang RTR tastefully melds the best of several automotive cultures into a vehicle that has mass appeal. Especially if you want to drive like a delinquent.

“Ford has really done an amazing job with the new 2015 Ford Mustang,” says Vaughn. “The all new platform has very easily allowed us to mesh RTR’s tastefully-aggressive styling and modified performance to offer our most capable, best-handling fun-to-drive RTR’s to date. If the slightly modified performance of the our Spec 1 is not enough, customers that demand more are sure to get their kicks with the up to 725 horsepower and optional fully-adjustable suspension that allows the driver to easily adjust the balance of the chassis to their liking. We feel we have developed very diverse and refined offerings, which was our number one goal to support the global release of the 2015 Ford Mustang and ensure our customers keep smiling and having fun behind the wheel of his or her RTR.”

The appearance upgrades available for both Spec 1 and Spec 2 packages include the following modifications:

  • RTR chin spoiler
  • RTR rear spoiler
  • RTR rear diffuser with side splitters
  • RTR rocker splitters
  • RTR upper grill with integrated lighting
  • RTR lower grill

The following performance upgrades are in addition to the Mustang RTR Spec 2 package:

  • Adjustable Dampers
  • Adjustable sway bars
  • Lowering springs
  • RTR exclusive exhaust system by Magnaflow
  • RTR custom tuning
  • Optional supercharger
  • RTR cold air intake system

Last week two 2015 Mustang RTRs − a black 2015 Mustang RTR Spec 2 and a silver 2015 Mustang RTR Spec 5 Concept − were put through the paces at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The below video should give you an idea of what RTR plans to deliver and what they want to deliver if the feedback is good.
