The New Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Digital Press Conference: Video

Ahead of its official November 19th premier in Los Angeles, the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS has been revealed in a digital press conference.

We’ve previously reported a lot of details regarding the new 911 Carrera GTS: 430 horsepower from the same 3.8 liter flat-6 as in the Carrera S; rear-wheel- or all-wheel-drive; a coupe or a convertible body.

But this digital press conference gives us our first look at the new 911 Carrera GTS in-motion, as well as granting us a listen of the soundtrack. Oh, that glorious, beautiful soundtrack. As Director of Powertrain for the 911 Product Line Thomas Krickelberg explains, both the intake and exhaust have been “optimally tuned to each other” acoustically, to offer a distinctive, out-of-this-world engine note.

We had no idea any 6-cylinder engine could sound so good.

The presentation glosses over one other major headline: at just 3.8 seconds, the 911 Carrera GTS is a full 0.2 seconds quicker to 100 km/h (62 mph) than the 911 Carrera S. The coming GTS sounds better, goes faster, and thanks to dark-tinted lights and a wider body, looks better, too.

If the 911 GT3 is a little too hardcore and uncompromising for you, the 911 Carrera GTS is sure to be the most exciting, elite Porsche your money can buy.
